Michael: Hey. What’s up, guys? My name is Michael Duivis with Super-Trainer.com and I’m standing here with a super special guest. You may know him because he’s the guy that started Super-Trainer.com. His name is Kaiser. Now he’s visiting me in Southern California and of course we’re talking a little bit about business and he told me the story about this lady that came in to his boot camp and anyway, I will just have you take it over from here. Kaiser: Yes. So I’ve been hanging out in Cali for a few days. I had a few things to do out here, a couple of people to visit. It has been real cool. I’ve been staying with Michael. I’ve been having a lot of fun. I rented a car I never drove before, the Dodge Challenger. Me and Michael are big car buffs so we’ve been having a lot of fun doing burnouts on this thing and just hanging out, eating good, relax and just chilling out. So yes, so me and Michael were talking and it’s funny the things me and Michael have been talking about, the offers we put out there, how we get clients, conversions [...]

Leree, now you’re part of Fitness Concepts three years ago and you moved away and now you got some businesses going and stuff like that. Leree: Yes. Sam: And we just saw each other the first time in a couple of years. Leree: I know. It has been a while. Sam: Well, you’re keeping in great shape. Leree: Thank you. Sam: Now here’s the thing. I was just talking to you over lunch and you said that even though like you pretty much have everything you want in life, you still work out as a personal trainer. Leree: I do. Sam: You still work a few hours as a personal trainer. Leree: I do. Yes. Sam: I mean you must be [...]

Branding consultant Joe Calloway wrote a great 2003 book titled Becoming a Category of One: How Extraordinary Companies Transcend Commodity and Defy Comparison. He talks about how brands like Apple and BMW position themselves so that price is not even a factor in consumer’s decision making process. If you want to be successful, Calloway contends, you’ve got to get past people’s overly rational, price-oriented minds and forge emotional connections with people. If you want to become a category of one, you must do the following: Through your branding, you have to answer “Who are you?” You have to let your passion, your mission, your goals and your vision shine through. What you need is Vision, Focus, Commitment: these are things people connect with. Calloway reminds that you can have the best prices, the best products or the best quality service, but that is simply not enough in this competitive marketplace. These days, you need people to differentiate yourself by reaching out and connecting with people. The best way to put yourself in a higher price bracket is to create an entirely new category, where you are the only one in it. You have to do what others are [...]

1 year of 12 Week “No Money Down” Marketing Systems So here is my secret, well not a secret anymore! This is my reoccurring 12 week deal site cycle Fit For Life Solutions does. It brings in thousands of dollars per cycle and 100′s of clients without fail. It will vary from bootcamp owner to bootcamp owner and city to city. But you can make this work as successfully as I do. I use 3 Bay Area deal sites; www.PlumDistrict.com, www.JuiceInTheCity.com and www.Tippr.com. I have used Facebook, www.LivingSocial.com and www.GroupON.com and they have been great, but they are hard to land on a consistent run basis because of their back log of people wanting to run. The deal i run is my “$247 4 week Bootcamp program + $50 gym membership, a $297 value for 39$!”. So find 3 of the biggest local sites you can in your area and start working them. So here is the format: Week 1 : Deal Site #1 Runs Week 3 : Deal Site #2 Runs Week 5 : Deal Site #3 Runs Week 6-12 : Convert from Coupon to EFT. This looks easy, and yes it is! In all the times i’ve run [...]

The Just For You Special

The Just For You Special

Erick here and I want to share with you a secret to closing a deal with a client. But before I go into the details, I would like to tell you about my grandfather who was very frugal but would never pass up a “good deal.” He would buy products that he didn’t even need simple because he felt that the deal was so good, he couldn’t pass it up. Most people share my grandfathers obsession with finding a “good deal.” This does not mean you have to give away your products or services. You should always build value in your products or services before you ask for the order. Once you have built sufficient value in your products or services offer them you prices. Your prices should be fair and justified by the value of your products or services. Confidently, ask for the order. Patiently, wait for a response and ask them if they have any questions that you can answer for them. If they seem reluctant or want to think about it, give them “The Just For You Special.”   You: “Mrs. Jones, I know you are excited to get started so you can reach your goal of [...]

Hey. What’s up guys? This is Zach Hunt here for Super-Trainer.com and I have some pretty cool tips I want to share with you and I’m pretty excited. This is the first video for the site and I’m even wearing my Superman shirt or Superman type thing because I know that’s something that Sam likes to have on. It’s his cartoon icon on his graphic, the cartoon graphic. So I want to talk about your client experience. I know the focus is on getting new clients and marketing and sales and all that and that’s great. There’s also a huge part of something that we do that seems to really help. It’s when a client is wanting to quit – I know a lot of trainers where they – like a client will fire off an email. Hey, I’m done with this program. I’m quitting or hey, I want to take a rest or whatever and let’s take the email and cancel them out, their subscription. Even if you’re on a 12-month contract, a lot of trainers just cancel out the contract and besides the fact if you stick – many people stick to their contract or not, something important [...]

Fitness Marketing 101

Fitness Marketing While it is true that Facebook can be a popular tool for fitness marketing, the best fitness marketing techniques incorporate a lot more than just social networking. While a fitness marketing system should not over extend itself, two or three different methods of advertisement should be utilized. The internet provides a multitude of promotional tools that fitness marketing experts can take advantage of. Simply having a Facebook puts a business on the map as far as marketing goes. But having more than just a Facebook going is what puts a business ahead of the competition when it comes to advertising. Fitness Marketing Potential For example, having a regularly updated blog that is properly Search Engine Optimized can greatly improve the fitness marketing potential that might otherwise be squandered. Search Engine Optimization is not rocket science. The blog writer just has to keep in mind what would annoy them about a blog post and avoid it. For example, a reader would not read a blog post that was nothing, but repetitious “Come to Tony’s Gym” over and over. Also for English readers, they want to read blog posts that make sense. They do not want to read a post [...]

The ‘Magic Formula’

The ‘Magic Formula’

Anytime someone has achieved any degree of success, they get asked what their ‘secret’ is.  I guess that if I had any secret, it would be this formula… Before becoming a fitness entrepreneur I was a baseball coach. I always had wanted to be a baseball coach.  Loved baseball and still probably read more about baseball than anything other than business stuff today. When I got a chance to coach I bought every book and video that might have a remote chance of helping me improve. Once I quit coaching, I shipped a box with about 2/3 of all that stuff to one of my former players who had gone into coaching…it weighed over 50 lbs. I traveled to clinics all over the country and worked camps at schools that had programs I wanted to model. Then I put in more hours than I care to remember. In fact, I never took a vacation during my entire coaching career. I figured that I wasn’t going to beat anyone with strategy, I had no experience…I needed to have better systems and work harder at recruiting. That was my only chance. As far as mistakes go…I didn’t really dwell on losing.  In [...]

Isabel Allende tells tales of passion

Isabel Allende tells tales of passion

Thank you so much. It’s really scary to be here among the smartest of the smart. I’m here to tell you a few tales of passion. There’s a Jewish saying that I love. What is truer than truth? Answer, the story. I’m a storyteller. I want to convey something that is truer than truth about our common humanity. All stories interest me and some haunt me until I end up writing them. Certain themes keep coming up, justice, loyalty, violence, death, political and social issues, freedom. I’m aware of the mystery around us so I write about coincidences, premonitions, emotions, dreams, the power of nature, magic. In the last 20 years, I have published a few books but I have lived in anonymity until February of 2006, when I carried the Olympic flag in the Winter Olympics in Italy. That made me a celebrity. Now people recognize me in Macy’s and my grandchildren think that I’m cool. Allow me to tell you about my four minutes of fame. One of the organizers of the Olympic ceremony, of the opening ceremony, called me and said that I had been selected to be one of the flag-bearers. I replied that surely [...]

Unique Experience Presentation

Unique Experience Presentation

Everyone in marketing has heard the word USP (Unique Selling Proposition). And if you haven’t then you need to get on some Dan Kennedy books and know what yours is, as it’s not only important that you have it, but also crucial that it differentiates you from your competitors. Check out a great explanation of it here http://dankennedy.com/blog/small-business-marketing-tips/unique-selling-proposition-vs-dumb-slogans/ I’m sure a lot of fitness businesses don’t have a USP, but why compare your self to them.  You should strive to be exceptional and really separate yourself from everyone else in the area. But then there is a concept that can take things to a whole other level. U.E.P. represents all the different ways you can create a unique experience for your prospects and clients.  This can range from the buying experience (is it like any other or do you already deliver a ton of value and a different feeling from the get go), feel of your gym, the design and music that’s playing, events you put on to show you appreciation, surprises you throw for your clients, etc. How professional everything looks and whether it matches what you promote through your marketing (does your marketing fall in line with what [...]

Fitness Marketing Game Plan

Sam, When I started coaching with you last October I had just moved into my stand alone Boot Camp Studio. I was grossing $9,000 in EFT per month before I moved into the studio. I had a bunch of my clients pay in full for the year to pay for the build out and that brought my EFT down to $6,000 per month. In January 2011 my EFT was $11,000 and my total overhead was $6,000 (payroll, rent, utilities, marketing, everything). I have only taught 1hr of boot camp in all of 2011 by the way. Currently in October 2011 I just expanded my boot camp to 3,000 sq ft (Paid in cash $45,000 for the build out) (funded from one Groupon promo). My current EFT is $22,000 a month and my new overhead is $11,000 (I have 3 trainers, 1 assistant, and 1 intern working for me). I spend about $3,000 a month on masterminds, conferences, online marketing programs and travel expenses. I am giving myself a  $6,000 paycheck and keep $2,000 in my business. My Goal back in January was to gross 30K a month by the end of the year. I sent you the outline of how [...]
