Fitness Marketing Law #7 – The Law of the Ladder

The  Fitness Marketing law of the ladder basically implies there is more than one step inside the prospect’s mind. Better yet, there’s more than one available spot. I realize this contradicts some of what has already been said in previous articles, but keep reading and you will see what I mean. As a fitness entrepreneur you can’t just give up your market share because you’re not in the first spot in the prospect’s mind. Sometimes being number two or three in the prospect’s mind isn’t such a bad thing.   Picture the steps on a ladder. You need to get into your attic and can’t without the use of a ladder. You climb on up but actually don’t need to use the top step in order to climb inside. This is the same strategy with the law of the ladder and marketing your product. You always want to do your best to be first in the prospect’s mind, but that doesn’t mean being second or third isn’t profitable.   Example: Hertz Rent a Car was the first car rental place to land in the prospect’s mind and it’s the largest car rental company with more than 8,500 locations. When you […]

The Power of A Morning Ritual

I am constantly reading, listening, or watching books and courses on the subject of self-improvement or personal productivity– i know we all are. But how much of the stuff that we read do we actually implement into our everyday lives? A quarter? 50%? I know I’m guilty of it: reading a bunch of stuff that sounds great on paper or makes me say “wow, I would be so much more productive if I did that!”. In reality though, it seems as if there’s just not enough time in the day to implement every single morsel that we ingest. So if I could pass along one little golden nugget that has hands down drastically changed my life, it would be this: Immediately implement your own personal built-specifically-for-you Morning Ritual and religiously implement it for the next 30 days… I first heard about this from Tony Schwartz and Jim Loher in The Power of Full Engagement (awesome read if you haven’t already done so). Then Eben Pagan talks about it emphatically in his personal productivity course Wake Up Productive. Here’s the general idea, and why it’s so relevant to not just me– but to anyone that wants to get the most out […]

In the fitness marketing world we’re constantly bombarded with the latest and the greatest whiz bang marketing techniques and products. I am guilty of that myself cuz let’s face it new gadgets are cool and exciting. We all want the latest “gizmo” to solve our problem and be “that magic bullet”. If you are in search of a magic bullet then you’re reading the right post. There is no magic bullet when it comes to marketing methods. Things that worked yesterday will not necessarily work today. Things that work today might not work tomorrow. (remember Criag’s list and Myspace) The only “magic bullet” is to be good to PEOPLE. If you want to be successful in business you got to genuinely care about people and go the extra mile for them. People can tell from a mile away who is sincere and who is not. I think it was Zig Zigler who said “If you give people what they want, you will get what you want” Learning new fitness marketing techniques is cool and I love learning them too. But don’t EVER forget the basic fundamentals. Going the extra mile WILL outperform SEO, PPC, Facebook, etc…. everytime in the long […]
