Hey Super-trainers, I present you a chilling blog post from “The Professor” Armando Cruz… Disgraced. Disappointing. Scumbag. Are a few words that could describe former Penn State football coach, Joe Paterno. His legacy went from being a great leader and football coach to that guy that failed to do the right thing. He failed to protect those that needed it most. The question is why? What did he believe was more important? There are times in our lives that will test the very fabric of who we are. These inflection points serve to test our core values. Will you be ready? Without a strong set of core values your business and your decisions are subject to self-destruct. I remember going to a party being a freshman in high school and having seniors come up to me asking me to forgive them because they were drunk. The question is why? I never said anything to them about their drinking but I made it known by my actions that I had no interest in drinking. First because it was against the law, second because in my core belief’s I felt that I wanted to always be in control and take care of […]

Personal Trainer Marketing Strategies – Ideas That Work

Personal Trainer Marketing Strategies – Ideas That Work

Here’s a little secret I learned after 20+ years in the industry: the difference between the guy making $30K and the guy making $300K or $3 Million has little to do with talent and everything to do with personal trainer marketing strategies. It’s really shocking when you first realize this truth. It really makes you think: How long have I been working for peanuts when I could have been rolling in the dough?!? Yet, it also feels relieving when you understand that it will only take a few tweaks to your business model to put you in the right direction. You won’t make six-figures overnight, but I’ve seen guys make that transition in as little as three months by taking the steps outlined in my “Six-Figures In 67 Days” manual. It’s a really rewarding experience to see the light bulb go on over people’s heads and see them take control of their lives that way and command the paycheck they’ve earned. Hell, most of my guys are now signing the front of the checks, rather than the back of the checks now! Life is good, my friends. But first: here are some guidelines to discovering the best marketing strategies. 1. […]

FITNESS MARKETING INSURGENT

FITNESS MARKETING INSURGENT

I want to talk to you about something very serious… I know it’s not like me to delve into politics like this, but I can’t help but notice how the war America is fighting overseas is very similar to the war we’re fighting in our own backyards. The insurgents in Afghanistan understand that they don’t have the manpower, the military strategy, or the weaponry to win against American troops head-to-head. They can’t just march into our bases and expect to come out victorious. So their only chance is to penetrate local communities and hide within the civilians. Now compare this scenario with what you’re facing in your community. Think of yourself as a “Marketing Insurgent.” As a small gyms or training center, you can’t expect to go up against the Big Box gyms or national chains that can outmatch your advertising budget and resources. You need to be one with your community. By the same token, our military understands that it would be disastrous to smoke out terror cells inside communities where innocent locals would be inadvertently gunned down by our troops. So we need to rely on a vast network of intelligence agents and underground informants to make tactical […]

How do you measure up?

How do you measure up?

It’s your boy Steve Krebs back with another dose of reality for your ass! The fact of the matter is anyone who doesn’t want to measure, doesn’t want to be held accountable. It’s just like that client who claims they want to drop twenty pounds but refuses to get measured or step on a scale in front of you. Hopefully your business isn’t “that client”. I realize that these are tough questions to answer, because I had to answer them myself and face the fact that I was running my business like my own personal piggy bank. Read this statement: “I am not just a personal trainer! I am a fitness entrepreneur!” Our industry is full of amazing people who GIVE all day long, but don’t take financial responsibility for themselves by setting themselves up for long term wealth building. We have 50 pairs of brand new kicks, but now investments or savings. It’s time for you to be a 1%er, be in the top 1 % of people in our industry. I’m not going to lie, I used to hate looking at the numbers, and to me if I had more money in my account at the end of […]

A Sad But True Story Of How SEO Marketing Shut Down This Business

A Sad But True Story Of How SEO Marketing Shut Down This Business

Hey Super-trainers, here’s a nice guest blog post by SEO Ninja, Neil Venketramen from www.PersonalTrainerMarketDomination.com A few weekend ago a small company called Children’s Furniture Store (CFS) finally pulled the plug and shut down their business. As fitness professional what would you do if this happened to you? All your hopes and dreams would literally be wiped out with just one act. They are closing their store down because of one single act. Literally Google’s latest SEO change called PENGUIN update forced their hand. Here is an extract from their release on their site as to what happened and why they closed. (Courtesy of constant contact) Wow, what a decision. It would cost too much money and time to rebuild their website to restore sales and cash flow again. There are some important business lessons we can take away from this story. By the way I am assuming that this is not the only company that probably will shut down its doors because of these latest Google changes. But irrespective of what happened to them lets focus on your fitness business for a minute.   According to Dan Kennedy the worst number in business is ONE. If you only have […]
