This blog is all about showing you the potential in Personal Training. The fact is not everyone’s slaving at a big-box health-club! There are some trainers that aren’t working in the typical gym setting – they’re doing it on their own, earning tremendous incomes and living outstanding lifestyles. But we’re going to shift gears for a minute and talk about a different career track: organized crime! Have you ever noticed how organized crime is glorified in entertainment and the media? Stop and think about some of the most popular movies of all time: Scarface, Pulp Fiction, The Departed, Ocean’s 11. The list could go on and on. Have you ever asked yourself why?

The $100 training session – you’d have to call it the holy grail of Personal Training. It’s the right of passage – the sign that you’ve made it. It’s what separates the elite trainer from everyone else. Does money and income define you? Hardly. But in our society it’s how we keep score. And something about the $100 session puts you in a different league in your own mind, you client’s, other trainers, and society at large (after all, how many people can pull a hundred bucks in an hour for their services?). So let’s get into this issue right here. With all the different tricks and strategies trainers use to grow their businesses and get more money out of their clients, the most simple, obvious, and effective is raising your session price.

ARNOLD TALKS TRAINING!!! The Governator Describes His Experience as a Personal Trainer (and it isn’t pretty!)

You might not have known this, but before he was Mr.Universe, Mr. Olympia, the biggest action star in the world, and the Governator, Arnold was a Personal Trainer! Yeah he started out just like us, turning his passion into money – But what’s real funny is he HATED it!!! He describes the experience in this quote I found from his book. What you get is a really candid and ironic take on the job. Here’s the quote: “Managing a health club was an entirely new experience. I was supposed to be a trainer, to show people how to exercise, to devise programs which would make them lose fat and rebuild their bodies.

“DEAR HEALTH-CLUB TRAINER …” A Special New Year’s Message From Your Good Buddy Kaiser ….

Posted on 11. Jan, 2009 by .

Dear Health-Club Trainer, First off, Happy New Year! Hey I heard you’re still working at the gym. How’s that job going? I wanted to let you know how much I’ve been feeling for you. I know how much it sucks to put up with all the b.s. that comes with your situation over there. That’s why I felt the need to write to you. When you think about it, you have one of the hardest jobs in the world. You’ve got to work 10+ hours a day to make ends meet. And let’s be honest, your job is sales, not training. That wouldn’t be bad, but you then have to train every client you sell, which makes both jobs even harder.

“THE GAME” of PERSONAL TRAINING: Girls, Guns, and Living the Fitness Lifestyle!!!

Posted on 07. Jan, 2009 by .

This is a little off topic from Personal Training, but follow me on this … Hey did you read that book THE GAME by Neil Strauss that came out a couple of years ago? I happen to LOVE that book, and if you haven’t read it yet it’ll probably be one of the most entertaining books you EVER read. Even the ladies love it, even though it’s all about the tricks and tactics about how to crawl into their pants! The only problem with the book is that a lot of people make a huge mistake after they’ve finished it – they think the book endorses becoming a PICK-UP artist which it doesn’t. What Neil points out through the book is these PUA’s are actually big-time geeks and losers. To get interest from girls you need to have an identity and have a social life – that’s the real key.

SUCCESS and DOING WHAT YOU LOVE – Special Guest Post by Personal Trainer Dave Parise (talking about the fallacy of hard work and the “10 year rule”)

Posted on 26. Dec, 2008 by .

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hope you had a healthy and happy one – my gift was getting to take a week off from writing a blog post. That was thanks to Dave Parise, because right now I’m going to re-gift the excellent post he made on the brand new Super-Trainer Forum. This post was pure magic, and I had to give it the credit it deserved. It was all about the issue of natural talent vs. the importance of mastery of something you love. The truth is very few us are born perfect (see picture on left). Everyone else, no matter who you’re talking about, had to put in a tremendous amount of effort before they reached the top of their game.

WHO SAYS WE’RE NOT PROFESSIONAL?!?! PROFESSIONALISM IN PERSONAL TRAINING – MY REBUTTAL!!!

Posted on 25. Jul, 2008 by .

That’s got to be the most ridiculous picture I’ve ever had on here!!! (I hope Wilmer’s appreciates getting his picture on Super-Trainer!) This pic has got nothing to do with Personal Training, only the theme of this post … Here’s my rebuttal to a recent article in Smart Money Magazine talking about the lack of professionalism in Personal Training. I don’t normally get into this kind of back and forth, but I thought this time it would be a good thing because this article points out where we as trainers can go wrong with our professionalism, and we’ll talk about how to fix it.

TRANSFORMATION: RIDING THIS PERSONAL TRAINING THING STRAIGHT TO THE TOP!!!

You can’t reach your full potential selling CHEESE PUFFS – I’ll tell you what I mean by that in a second …. But when I’m talking about reaching your full potential, I mean TRANSFORMATION: going from who you are now to the person you want to be. Personal Training is unique because it can be the vehicle – I just recorded a little video explaining this idea: [youtube nDW5C71rUEY nolink]

PERSONAL TRAINERS: WELCOME TO THE SECRET SOCIETY!!!!! Completely Self-Indulgent Post “HOW I’M THE COOLEST GUY ON EARTH” – Greetings From Vegas!!!

Posted on 24. May, 2008 by .

I’VE ALMOST GOT MY ICE GRILL DOWN PAT!!!! Just had a craaazzzyyy friday night out here in Vegas – absolutely sick. Until now Super-Trainer has been all about the trainers – about getting you quality information on Personal Training minus the b.s. and rhetoric. But Now I bring you a completely gratuitous, self-glorifying post about how I’m the coolest guy on earth. Haha! But this ones for you too, because right now, as I sit here contemplating how the night went, everything that happened, and how it’s a completely alternative universe from where I was living just a couple of years ago, I’ve had a revealing breakthrough.

“ON TIME” IS THE NEW “LATE” – Read my take on the importance of punctuality for Personal Trainers.

Posted on 08. Mar, 2008 by .

In making sure I made it to my sessions on time this morning with daylight savings time today, it made me think of an article I wrote not too long ago about punctuality. I have to admit that with my full schedule and commuting, I don’t have a 100% on-time rate (pretty darn close, though). But I do have some real strong feelings about being on time. There’s a lot more to punctuality than just a few wasted minutes; it’s a matter of self-esteem, respect, and image. You communicate a lot by how you value your time and the time of others. Valuing time management is a characteristic of only the top people in our society. If you don’t have this control over your own schedule, you communicate to others that you aren’t one of these top people.
