Personal Training Interview With IDEA Personal Trainer Of The Year Nicki Anderson
Posted on 09. Feb, 2010 by Kaiser.
If you know the message I’m constantly sharing on this blog, you know about my belief that personal training can and should be very easy. Growing a business? Reaching all of your personal and income goals? Creating an amazing life? Going past your preconceived notions of what’s possible? Now that might be a little harder … But getting the 10-15 clients you need right now to start making it as an independent trainer can be easy if you have the right role models. For that, I brought on a woman who exemplifies everything good about the Personal Training Business, Nicki Anderson. Nicki is one of the top trainers in the biz, having recently been named IDEA PERSONAL TRAINER OF THE YEAR. She runs a gym out of the posh neighborhood of Naperville, near Chicago Illinois. And she is a major fitness success story herself, having overcome obesity in her youth, and now educating her clients and the public on the correct ways to achieve lasting weight loss. You’ll learn about Nicki’s story, the unique set-up of her training business, and tons of other helpful success advice in this interview I did with Nicki recently. Just click the link below to [...]

SELLING PERSONAL TRAINING THROUGH TESTIMONIALS: The Can’t Miss Magic Bullet …
Posted on 21. Dec, 2009 by Kaiser.
Mikey likes it! Do you remember that one? That was the old LIFE cereal ad, and was my first exposure to testimonial based advertising … Even though that particular commercial was dramatized, there’s no doubt testimonials work – not because I think so, but because they’ve been tested numerous times for their effect. But most trainers either don’t use them or don’t use them enough. I happen to think that testimonials have a special and greater importance as it applies to the marketing of personal training, so that even magnifies the need for them. I sent out a brief lesson to the SUPER-TRAINER LICENSEES on the subject recently, but I think the lesson is so valuable that it shouldn’t be kept under wraps – Here was the note I sent them: ———————————————————————————————– As we’ve talked about on the blog many times, REFERRALS are the absolute best form of marketing for any service professional. Just do your job right and maintain the right standards doing it, and that’s all the marketing you will ever need. You will get more clients, your rates will get higher, your income will grow, and you will then suffer from the major problem that most successful [...]

HOW DO I SIGN-UP MORE PERSONAL TRAINING CLIENTS?!?! Here’s The Answer (plus an offer you won’t want to miss) …
Posted on 24. May, 2009 by Kaiser.
“People get caught up in wonderful, eye-catching pitches, but they don’t do enough to close the deal. It’s no good if you don’t make the sale. Even if your foot is in the door or you bring someone into a conference room, you don’t win the deal unless you actually get them to sign on the dotted line.”
Donald Trump
Say what you want about the Donald, but in business, it all comes down to one thing: closing the deal.
And if you view your Personal Training as your business, then it comes down to the same thing for you too.
Whether you know it or not, there are actually proven systems you can use to close nearly every singl client that crosses your path, and do it for the biggest money training packages possible.

“Good Idea Or A Scam???” – PURDUE OFFERS FIRST DEGREE IN PERSONAL TRAINING (watch my video commentary)
Posted on 22. Apr, 2008 by Kaiser.
Purdue University is now offering a four year degree in Personal Training – yeah, that’s right, the same job that until now only required little more than a weekend certification can be yours after four years of pricey full-time college education. Depending on how you look at it, this could either be a very good idea or a scam, so we need to go deeper. Right off the bat, it doesn’t sound like a good idea to me. Not that having a degree is bad; there are already degrees in specialized areas of athletics like kinesiology and exercise science that are important for those that want to specialize in those areas. But to offer a degree in Personal Training seems blatantly like an attempt to cash in on the popularity of this field.

WEB 101 FOR TRAINERS – YOUR TEACHER: SCOTT WHITE – Scott breaks down the web for Personal Trainers.
Posted on 11. Feb, 2008 by Kaiser.
I know all of you at one time or another has typed the term “Personal Training” into Google out of curiosity. When you did, right there in the top ten results, along with Wikipedia and all the big training companies with huge advertising budgets, you surely saw Scott White’s gleaming bald head shining back at you. If you didn’t know, the web is the best way to get new clients (next to referrals) for every Personal Trainer. Even if you’re familiar with the web, marketing online is a completely different science. With his success at consistently getting top ten results nationally, Scott’s the undoubted master at it in this field. I wanted to get Scott on here to talk about how he does it and see if we could squeeze a few secrets out of him.

MEET EUGENE THONG, TLT – Top Level Trainer talks about how he does it.
Posted on 15. Jan, 2008 by Kaiser.
As a great man once said – “Let me see that THONG” – Or in this case I wanted to talk to him: I’m referring to fellow trainer Eugene Thong. For every trainer out there who gets big-time media coverage, trains a roster of stars, or is selling a new workout machine, there are dozens who you may never hear about but that are making great livings in this business. We call them Top-Level Trainers, and Eugene’s one of them. I first found out about him when I came across his blog while doing research online late one night. I ended up spending the next 3 hours completely engrossed by his in-depth posts, probably more for my own fitness than my clients. You can find it at www.eugenization.com.

SALES TRAINING: THE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR QUESTION – Your primer on relationship selling.
Posted on 05. Dec, 2007 by Kaiser.
“Sales” in it’s traditional sense, is a weird subject for Personal Trainers. If you know me, you know that most of my advice is designed to help you sell yourself. If you get good at creating a positive success image and delivering a consistently WOW product (in this case your training sessions), you’ll eventually find it unnecessary to ever have to “sell”; those qualities alone will create for you a base of permanent clients, along with a steady stream of new clients coming in through referrals and inquiries. Voila! you have a thriving training practice! But in spite of this, you still need to understand some of the dynamics of selling to keep this process working fluidly. Especially when you’re starting up a new practice and acquiring clients, or looking to fill up some empty spots in your schedule, having a sound mastery of selling and especially the sales conversationwill give you outstanding results and allow you to get booked solid very quickly. Although sales is a dynamic process, it does have it’s own rules and patterns. Some of the biggest companies in the world have spent millions of dollars testing what works and what doesn’t. They’ve determined that there’s [...]

TOP LEVEL PERSONAL TRAINERS FEATURED IN THE NEW YORK TIMES – Find out about the new age of Personal Training: training without limits.
Posted on 12. Sep, 2007 by Kaiser.
I just got my hands on an article from late 2005 from the New York Times and it was pretty shocking. What’s the main point of the article? Personal Training isn’t your usual job – it can’t be bound by the confines of a gym, can’t be punched in a clock, and your heart is the only qualification you need. The main trainer focused in the article was Juris Kupris. Juris is the prototype Top-Level Trainer; visiting his web-site, you’ll notice absolutely impeccable personal marketing and image management. Let’s sing his praises for a bit: He’s used the media to establish himself as a fitness expert (takes some dedication, but fairly simple) Focused on a target market that can deliver a high return in terms of training usage and high-value referrals Has branched into other sources of income other than hourly sessions (he’s released a DVD collection)
