This event is absolutely nuts! I’m having a blast hanging out with Kaiser and helping Ryan out with the event. Everyone here is extremely nice – I almost feel like a VIP like I’m fitting in already, which is kind of crazy.. It’s very hard to consider this weekend work in the traditional sense, but since there’s money involved, I guess you’d have to call it that. Anyway, here are a few more video updates – With the videos, we’re trying to get you the more exclusive, behind-the-scenes type of stuff so that you can get a true feel for what actually goes on in these events during the times between speakers (which I’ve learned is actually the most valuable time). Check out the footage below.. Here’s Joel Marion, who’s brining back the e-book as a way to make serious money in fitness: Alex Moroko talks about how anyone in fitness can easily make a product: You’re in for a special treat with Kaiser and world famous author Mark Victor Hanson. (Watch Mark punk Kaiser at the end!) We met this 20 year old genius marketer at the bar Friday night – hilarious: And this was only Friday!

WISDOM FROM THE MASTER: Dave Parise Shares His Knowledge And A Few Excellent Tools!!!

Posted on 03. May, 2009 by .

If you follow this blog you know who Dave Parise is – the man is basically the prototype Personal Trainer … And one thing about Dave is he’s never shy or hesitant to share his vast wisdom; he did over 1.6 MILLION in sales at his facility in Connecticut without any of the direct response advertising tactics I’ve told you about and you’ve been reading about on the web – just plain old fashioned positive PR! Here are a couple of choice bits of wisdom from the master, and a couple of excellent and tremendously AFFORDABLE tools he’s put out there for trainers to take what they do to the top-level: _______________________________________________________ Ultimately, it’s not about certification… it’s about application! By Dave Parise Super Trainer Advisory Board Please remember certifications mean nothing. They look great on the wall. If they make you feel better, then so be it. I once read a book on surgery, does that make me a doctor? I want you to take time to look around at some of the exercises being performed at your fitness center. You may have a laugh, a wonder, or a moment of insight. I hope you see and understand the [...]

PERSONAL TRAINING MAGAZINE EDITOR SHELBY MURPHY UNCENSORED!!! Talking To PFP Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief About The State Of Our Profession (listen to the highly informative audio from our conversation)

Posted on 17. Apr, 2009 by .

Hey, there’s a lot of power in the press … And I spoke to a woman recently that has a lot riding on her shoulders, Shelby Murphy, the Editor-In-Chief of Personal Fitness Professional Magazine. In our profession there are very few real magazines to begin with, and hers happens to probably be the best.  With her responsibilities there, that naturally makes her a major force in shaping the thinking of thousands of trainers, and the image and ideas we’re exposed to. If you want info on the industry and profession, there’s no one better to talk to – Shelby’s right there in the thick of it – she’s also a practicing trainer, studio owner, and bootcamp instructor, so she’s obviously someone with her hand firmly on the pulse of this business. Besides the challenges and fun, there’s a professional side to what we do – that’s why I wanted to get Shelby on to talk about some key issues in the training industry and her thoughts and feelings about all of it – what resulted was a very informative conversation every trainer needs to check out: [audio:https://s3.amazonaws.com/s-t/Shelby-Murphy-interview.mp3] Shelby-Murphy-interview.mp3 I’m a huge fan of some of the changes she’s implemented since [...]

HOW TO CREATE AND MARKET A FITNESS E-BOOK: THE INTERVIEW WITH JOEL MARION (probably the most valuable 35 minutes of audio you’ll find anywhere on the web)!!!

Posted on 14. Apr, 2009 by .

VERY, VERY rarely do you come across a piece of just killer, kick ass content that’s out in the open, being given away for free … Well buckle yourself in boys and girls, because this is one of those times! I recently talked to Joel Marion about HOW TO CREATE AND MARKET A FITNESS E-BOOK (and his career in general) and what resulted was one of the most hype-free and informative interviews you’ll find anywhere. Joel’s a guy that for the most part has been staying off the radar, but progressively accomplishing bigger and bigger things and making a major name for himself in the fitness industry. His latest project is a major fitness e-book release called Cheat Your Way Thin, that’s set to come out on April 28th (with the pre-launch beginning today). In the process of our conversation, Joel held absolutely nothing back and basically spilled the entire blueprint behind what’s sure to be a million dollar product.  And in the process, he explained everything that’s gotten him to this point, and it’s a real crazy story. If you don’t know about Joel, here’s a very quick bio: – He’s the author of The Cheat To Lose Diet, [...]

THE FATHER OF THE E-BOOK: CRAIG BALLANTYNE!!! Talking To The Leader In the Business of Online Fitness (Listen to the in-depth audio)!!!

Posted on 08. Apr, 2009 by .

It’s funny how our little personal training and fitness world works … … because although he’d never get recognized at the mall, I talked to a guy recently who’s an absolute celebrityCraig Ballantyne. to trainers worldwide (and just like any celebrity, almost everyone has something to say about him) – In some way or another we all know who Craig is – whether you’re working on an e-book, attending conferences, or just hating on him for making money doing basically the same thing you might be doing 12 hours a day for peanuts; Craig’s a guy that’s very active in this business and known by and friends with most of the people at the top of it. What Craig’s famous for is bringing the e-book mainstream to a new generation of young trainers that have used him for help or inspiration in their own online efforts.  His reach is much larger than e-books now, with his original project, Turbulence Trainingmembership and community component to it, and Craig now heavily involved as a business coach in all the areas of online training, from e-books, to membership sites, to oline promotion. now with a huge Here’s the audio from our conversation: (I [...]

HE’S BACK!!! NATE GREEN puts down the BOOZE, BROADS, and BARBELLS to talk PERSONAL TRAINING and FITNESS!!! (listen to our full conversation)

Posted on 28. Mar, 2009 by .

Just like Sinatra used to say, at the end of the day, when you’ve made it, you want to say “I did it my way” … One guy really taking that to heart in the fitness industry is NATE GREEN. Instead of trying to fit anyone else’s mold on what it mean to be in fitness, Nate’s does his own thing – but he goes so hard and pushes at such a high level, that he makes it work.  With his book Built for Show now in book stores, other big projects in the works, along with his usual gig over at T-Nation, you might say Nate’s having more fun than anyone else in fitness (maybe even me).  But some of the biggest names in the industry have got his back, so it’s obviously not just all play and no work for him. I was glad to have Nate back on the blog, this time for a full audio conversation, to share what’s new and to give more insights into the beliefs that drive him.  He’s an unlikely but very timely role model for all the new trainers who want to get started in this business and turn it into [...]

FITNESS MARKETING: TALKING TO THE GODFATHER!!! Ryan Lee Talks Big-Time Marketing And Puts A Hit Out On His Haters (45 minutes of audio from our converstation)!!!

“I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.” Don Corleone; The Godfather Haha – and just like the Don, there’s been a guy in the fitness industry that’s making trainers an offer they can’t refuse for years now – that man’s Ryan Lee.  He’s been telling trainers to look beyond just their hourly sessions,  gyms, and immediate customers, and embrace the wide world of potential clients out there, and how technology can now help you leverage the job of serving them. Ryan’s responsible for the some of the biggest success stories in the fitness industry. To name who he’s inspired is pointless, because there’s hardly a single person you’ve heard of doing anything big in fitness, whether it be on or offline, that hasn’t been inspired by Ryan in some way.  Guys like Mike Boyle,Eric Cressey, Alwyn Cosgrove, Chris McCombs, Craig Ballantyne, and Nate Green are just a short list of the guys that pay him a huge debt of gratitude. In my case, I hardly had an email account before I heard Ryan’s call to begin embracing the web.  That sparked the learning that allowed me to finally go truly INDEPENDENT, not have to rely on a gym for [...]

BIG-TIME “DREAM-SETTING” FOR PERSONAL TRAINERS WITH SHELBY MURPHY (taking a look at PFP Magazine)!!!

Posted on 20. Mar, 2009 by .

If you follow the blog, you know I’m against most industry stuff – most of it is rhetoric to hold up the status quo … and that status quo is trainers getting jerked around in the big gyms, making less than 30 grand a year, and forced to abandon PT and go into other boring careers – all in a career that pays on average, 75 bucks an hour – in my mind, that’s not going to cut it anymore … But one magazine that really “gets” training at its best is Personal Fitness Professional Magazine.  They’re the only mag that I really pay attention to, and the only one that I’d consider writing for.   This credit has to go to the editor Shelby Murphy.  She just put up a real cool video on the PFP home page called Stepping Up.   I found it excellent because just like the magazine as a whole, Shelby “gets it” too – she’s calling for us to pursue our absolute highest dreams and view Personal Training as part of that larger mission – here’s her video: Ha! Not what you usually hear, huh?  That one really got me psyched and thinking big! Here’s the [...]

HANGING WITH BIG-TIME PERSONAL TRAINER SAM BAKHTIAR!!! Watch All Three Killer Videos About Sam’s Business (and take out a notepad and prepare to be schooled)!

Posted on 17. Mar, 2009 by .

We’ve had some big time trainers on here – people that have set  great examples  we can learn from and lessons we can apply to our own businesses. But right now, we have a trainer that takes the cake – Dr. Sam Bakhtiar!  In terms of running a successful business and doing it in a way that we can learn from and apply to what we do, he’s really the master. If you’ve never heard of Sam, that’s because he’s actually doing it in the real world instead of talking about it online.  Him and his business are an example of the balance in practice and service, operations and marketing that it takes to “get” this Personal Training thing. If I’m raving a little bit about this guy, it’s because I’ve done enough things in different places to appreciate what Sam has accomplished as a Personal trainer and the level he’s taken this game to.

PERSONAL TRAINING UNCENSORED!!! Talking to the Market Annihilator, CHRIS McCOMBS (WARNING: Not Appropriate for Children – Strong Language and Drug Use!!!)

Posted on 20. Feb, 2009 by .

What can you say about Chris McCombs that hasn’t been said by him already?!?!  When it comes to smash-mouth talk, fitness business tactics, and the aggresive, entrepreneurial mind-set in the world of fitness, Chris is the poster boy! And when it comes to DUMPING THE GYM, making the leap into independent training, and kicking-ass at it, the poster boy is Michael Duivis. Michael and Chris got together recently for what turned out to be a killer interview that completely pulls back the curtain on Chris’ business, blog, and products.  There’s nothing more to say than what’s been covered in these four audio clips:
