Hey Alberto – glad you got so much out of the article – yeah just knowing how someone else did it in the past can be a big help – you know what to expect going in –
James, glad to hear you’re making so much progress man – you’re one of the good guys doing this, and I think the only thing holding you back was over-analyzing a couple of things – I do it too, but once you get over that you’ll start taking off even faster – Ha, Dave, glad to hear you got your start the same way – for making the jump and going solo, and still providing excellent service, this is one of the best routes – Sue, let us know how it turned out!

It would be smart to take Kaisers advice and purchase all material he has to offer. What we need to understand is we have lived and breathed this for 20 plus years…why reinvent the wheel- top level training manual tells it all!

NUT-SHELL

Going solo? Present yourself, make it known your professional, and dedicated to your work. You will be issued a 10-99 form as an independent- call the trade mark division and register your name as a DBA ( xyz Doing Business As intelligent PT) Once registered form a LLC-limited liability company. Through your certification you should have an insurance policy in place- cover your A_ _ . Have a professional uniform- don’t look like a A- typical meat -head- Design your logo print your shirts.
Charge any rate that bares the demographic market your currently training. Take charge and collect your own fees and pay the gym 1/3 of all revenue. Do not be greedy- I made 75+ AFTER MY FIRST YEAR BACK IN 1991. Once established if you follow these steps you will have a base and following to open your own center. Gee this sounds to familiar!!!!

Great article Kaiser. On the Top Level Trainer Manual 2.0,, I remember you really going into detail about teaming with private gyms (CD# 2 I believe ). You gave some great examples on how to position yourself as the person in power if you negotiate effectively. You also gave me some great advice on one of my private coaching calls with you in regards to a potential opportunity with a private studio, which ended up working out well!

Hey Kaiser, I have to say WOW!!!

This article has to be one of your BEST EVER.

You really gave some very very useful tips and advice that people can use.

You broke it down where someone not familiar with the process could really understand and now have leverage when they go into negotiate.

I’ve had this problem in the past in trying to negotiate with small gym owners and although i knew i was right, i never new how to explain it to them to justify my points for the contract and I ended up just walking away rather then getting “raped”.
