There, I said it and feel a little better now….. but only because I changed my behavior which pulled my head out of my  rear end!

A little background on me:

I’m Steve Krebs, I have been in the fitness industry since I was 22 years old. I have owned and operated my own facility since 2007. I gained success fairly quickly with hard work and hustle. I run a facility that offers personal training, athlete performance and boot camp in an area with an average income of only 23k a year….. and I fucking dominate. (So I don’t want to hear any bullshit excuses why you can’t get clients due to price etc.)

Enough about me, although I am pretty awesome ;-)…….

The purpose of this post is to share some important lessons I have learned over the past few months….

Every single cent we spend now effects our future selves. I was spending money like a drunken sailor. It doesn’t matter how much money your business brings in if  you are blowing it on VIP bottle service and strippers. With Sam’s guidance I have this under control now, my advice is to read the  book “The Compound Effect”, it does a great job explaining why you shouldn’t spend your  money like an asshole. The basic premise of the compound effect is that small consistent smart habits over a long period of time will contribute to great success and wealth. It’s not glamorous, it just fucking works.

Here are a few things you should ask yourself

1) How much money do I save each month?

2) How much money do I put in retirement?

3) Do you put at least 10% of each “paycheck” in an untouchable account?

4) Do you have an asshole money account? (This I got from my boy Paul Reddick, who put on a SICK event a few weeks ago called GFGI)

5) Do you know your numbers? Expenses vs. Income

I was so proud of myself for systemizing my business and hiring quality trainers that I was sleeping in like a college student…… what a douche.

Now I am systematically getting up a half hour earlier each week until I am up at 5am getting shit done. That’s man shit, not some pussy ass college kid sleeping away the day.

Don’t take the people who love you for granted. Again, I was being a major asshole. I have an amazing family, who I never saw because I was “so busy”. And by so busy, I mean fucking around on Facebook for half the day everyday. By “so busy” I mean I was running around “acting busy” all day. Douche Bagery….. yes I made up my own word….. its Douche Bagery (feel free to use it, it’s pretty awesome). I also have an amazingly beautiful girlfriend who just might be the sweetest person I have ever met and I was acting like an emotional cripple. I never told how I felt, or how awesome she is…. I WAS BEING A DOUCHE!!!!

Main take away- Show people you care. Success is so much sweeter when you can share it with the people who helped you get there.

Budgets are not just for poor people! I can say that shit, cuz I used to be poor. Sam helped me break down every single expense in my life and my business, and holy shit did that put things in perspective. I’m in the process of budgeting every single expense in my life. Knowing the exact amounts is actually very powerful, and I feel so much better because of it.

I feel like most of you are much like me. In the fitness world, we are all so focused on helping others and getting our clients results that we forget that the whole fucking point of owning a business is to actually KEEP money. It’s time to start taking care of #1. Please feel free to contact me through our website at www.thepackfitnessbusiness.com or www.thepacklifestyle.com if you have questions, concerns, or just want to shit the shit!
