How do you adjust pay, and how do you judge competency levels with them?

Hey Gang! Dave Parise back from a long well deserved vacation...I love this industry, and I love my job! How many of you can say that ha! I wonder? The information you read here on S.T. will give you that opportunity. But you must have a dream, a desire, and never let those dreams turn to regrets!

I would like to set the stage for what we need to know about who we hire. I am not referring to the person and abilities...I am specific to the title. Have you ever called a dog a cat? Well if you wish not to be sitting at your dinner table one day...you open a letter...and the IRS is now doing an audit on your business. That is not a pleasant experience...I equate it to how tiger felt as he was being beaten by his own 1 iron! Lets get right to the point- Be careful if you think your going to hire an independent contractor. (IC) Independent contractors (ICs) are people who contract to perform services for others, but aren't legally employees. Because many employment laws and tax rules that cover employees don't apply to ICs, businesses can often save time, money, and headaches by hiring ICs instead of employees.
ICs may call themselves by a variety of names -- freelancers, consultants, the self-employed, entrepreneurs, or business owners.

Lets me tell you the risks of hiring independent contractors?
Despite the advantages, many businesses are wary of using ICs because they have heard about or experienced the consequences of misidentifying as ICs workers who are, according to the law, actually employees. And it's true that the consequences can be economically devastating. A business must pay the IRS all back taxes owed, with interest, plus a penalty of 12% to 35% of the tax bill.
Audits by state agencies are even more common than IRS audits. State audits most frequently occur when workers classified as ICs apply for unemployment compensation after their services are terminated.
Another major disadvantage of hiring ICs is that they can sue you for negligence if they are injured on the job. This is something employees normally cannot do, because their work injuries are covered by workers' compensation insurance.
So ladies and gentlemen- I warn you, pay taxes, pay social...A wise man..OK.. The president of a large wireless company once told me "the more taxes I pay..means the more $$$$$ I make" that sounds logical!!!

If you wish to excel in business think like a giant..think big...expand...and don't think by saving a few thousand $$$$ is going to make you wealthy in the long run. THE TRUTH HURTS ..BUT WHEN YOU TELL THE TRUTH ...YOU HAVE LESS TO REMEMBER!

Hey Kasier:

I am currently on # 2 , building systems.

I recently implemented EFT to my payment service options and I aready can see how this will improve my business. No more reminding clients to pay again. It also guarantees that for the duration of said agreement with client, that I will be getting in X amount of dollars automatically.
I am amazed on how somehting so simple can greatly improve my image as a top notch trainer.
