Hey Manny - yeah I understand your question - the blueprint hasn't changed - it's just that in Kelly's case you see the result of consistent action over time - after a while, it becomes such a dominant resume that it becomes overwhelming and success is practically guaranteed.

People in other professions are used to thinking about and advancing their careers in this way - trainers often don't and that's why I wanted to get Kelly on here -

But by all means, offer your services as aggressively as possible - at the same time continue to rack up accomplishments, and keep note of them - soon you'll have a really impressive CV too!

Great post man - you're right Kelly's got a lot of qualifications in fitness and seems to be doing a lot!

But tell me if I'm wrong - aren't you usually talking about a different route for trainers? That we should get out and offer are services instead of "jumping through hoops" like you talk about?

In any case I liked the new perspective and love to find out about other people succeeding at training - it's changed my whole idea about this field and my career - thanks and keep up the good work!

Yeah Sarah we're on the same page with this - there's nothing wrong with what they're doing - there's just that thin *clank* of the counterfeit through all of it that tells you something's not right -

but -

I think most trainers waste their time badmouthing these guys and some of the pathetic stuff they put out - spend your time instead on learning and putting out some REAL, high quality information, products, service options, and programs that people can benefit from - if we all do this, the fakers will have no chance and the public will benefit greatly!

Hey Yavor - thanks man - when you got the time go ahead and read a few more!

Hey Daphne - golden situation - there are so many of these and they're a totally untapped market - these people will pay more for on site services, and your expenses are less!!! Yeah, very good to get the blessing of the property management team and letting them get comfortable with you and learning about what you have to offer - this will prevent and problems later on down the line - do they want a cut? Is that what you mean by a deal? If they allow you to market inside the healthclub and your cut is very strong, then I'd say no problem.

I will be meeting with the property management team of a newly built condo, in regard to discussing how to go about offering my PT services. There is no fitness center management. If a deal is made I will be the only trainer. Any advice for me.

AMEN!

I have always believe that those who "have it," have it...and those who are in this business for the wrong reasons will do whatever they can to make up for a lack thereof.

I am constantly looking at other fitness professionals' blogs, and i'm glad to have found your's! I also frequent Izzo's blog as well. There are few that I choose to spend my time reading. Yesterday, in fact, I was googling and whatnot, and came across some typical master-info-product-marketer's blog...can't remember his name BUT he had a pic from the latest Ryan Lee trip to Vegas or something...a group of the top "gurus" standing in the casino. Now, I didn't want to pass judgment, but my immediate thought was "these guys look like they have never worked out!" Reading your post made me feel better about this, lol. If I sit and think about this kinda thing too much, it gets me a bit riled-up. I guess just as in any industry, there are gonna be the guys who hide behind a facade in order to take advantage of others. It seems to be a plague for us. Ugh. Funny how they are all tied together, promoting eachother. Nothing wrong with that...I just feel it's OBVIOUS what's going on, and I would never want to be associated with that kinda thing. END OF RANT! :) Thanks for not being a sellout!
