Bad News…..

Hey Super Trainers… Are you ready for 2014 new year resolution rush? I hate to be the bearer of bad news… But you’re most likely too late. “But what do you mean Sam, isn’t January the best month for personal trainers?” Yes and NOPE. Yes if you market to them WAY BEFORE Christmas (actually before even Thanksgiving) to get their commitment and money before they go out there and spend it all. NOPE if you didn’t. You see MOST people are flat out broke for a few months after the Holidays. How many times have you heard this before… “I overspend on Christmas, so I have to take a couple of months off from training to pay off these cards” Sure the sales are up at the local big box gyms… But remember they are selling a $13-$29 per month membership. MOST people cannot afford to hire a $200-$600 a month personal trainer/boot camp right after the Holidays. (They have already spend their money on gifts, Christmas, etc…) In our businesses (and my coaching client’s) we market to the new year resolution “population” in November so that we get to their “money” BEFORE Nordstrom, JC Penney, Toys-R-US, etc…. In each […]

Hey Super Trainers… Hope you had an awesome Christmas and I hope that you’re ready to bring in 2014 with a BANG. No my wife is not leaving me BUT (at least I hope not, where else can she find all of this 5’5″ short, white and handsome ;) let me tell you how this relates to your fitness business. A topic that keeps coming up lately when I talk to many fitness pros is “sales agreements/contracts” It seems like it’s the “industry standard” to lock people up into long term contracts. As you all know by now, I like to do my own thing and don’t care about the so called “industry standards” made by people who don’t or operate a real fitness business. Some fitness pros that I have spoken to lately seem to make “buying” plain old difficult for their prospect by offering a million different programs/price variations and contracts. This one particular fitness pro that I was talking to literally had 14 different options and variations to his programs. When I asked him how many clients he has he said “39”. NO WONDER…. Don’t forget the cardinal rule that “A CONFUSED MIND ALWAYS SAYS NO” Again, […]

Hey Super Trainers, Hope you, your business and your family is doing awesome. I don’t know about you BUT I absolutely HATE shopping, especially during the Holidays. Yesterday, I stopped in at Walgreens to get my teething 3 month old Hailee some orajel. I then remembered shoot, I forgot to get everyone gifts. Then, I took the easy way out and just bought 50, $50 Nike gift cards. BOOM. DONE ;) Except the lady at the cash register kinda freaked out and called the manager. She said “I have never seen anyone buy so many gift cards, I just want to make sure it’s OK with my manager” And that’s how I am basically about everything in life. No need to beat around the bush. Get to the point. Who has time to shop all day at the mall. Women say it’s the thought that counts… I say, I thought enough to reach in my wallet. (OK DON’T SHOW THIS EMAIL TO MY WIFE ;) As many of you already know, myself and my awesome team have been on a HUGE growth spurt. Our 7th location in Fontana, California will open in a couple of weeks. (January 6th) Make sure […]

Hey Super Trainers, Hope you’re doing awesome and are ready to kick your game up a notch or ten in 2014. As I have mentioned before, I have been extremely busy with serious expansions. I was enjoying my semi retired lifestyle, but my young, hungry and ambitious team once again has dragged me back in the game. I feel like the Godfather where Michael Corleon says “Just when I thought I was out…they pull me back in” (Just signed the lease for our 7th location and currently negotiating for the 8th) These are full on “transformation centers” that provide the best of both worlds boot camp style functional training as well as bodybuilding style weight training. For the hundredth time, we don’t sell boot camp, personal training, Zumba, Yoga, Cross Fit, etc….. (Don’t label yourself and give prospects a way to compare you with others) WE SELL BODY TRANSFORMATIONS. No boot camp, no personal training = No way for prospects to compare you. Like you, 99.9% people come to us to transform their bodies and to generally look and feel better. And that’s what we do. With any method(s) that we deem necessary. (and so should you) These days we […]

Hey Super Trainer… Sorry I have been absent from sending regular emails. As many of you all know, Super Trainer and consulting the fitness industry is my “hobby income”. I do it to give back to the industry, learn from others and “supplement my income” I’ve been extremely busy with opening opening our 6th and now 7th location. My company is been growing exponentially (hence less time for emails) and I owe it to all to God, my awesome clients, partners and co workers. Today, I want to share a quick real life story with you that I think will help you BIG time in your business in the long haul. About a year ago, a couple walked in at my facility, as I was getting ready to leave my office. (my 3 year old had a dance recital) Nobody was around and they wanted a tour. So, I obliged. I was giving this couple a tour and the whole time the husband was asking me questions like “How much is it” “What kind of deal can I get” “What specials do you have” “We are looking at other facilities as well” He also mentioned that he was a general […]
