Let’s start with the group that should be your greatest number of clients… fat loss. Fat loss clients will end up being 80 to 90% of your clientele. Because of this I suggest that design three different levels of training for fat loss/fitness clients. Level 1 –Extremely deconditioned client, -More than 31% body fat (if she is female) -Little to no gym experience -Failing most of the functional movement screen. Level 2 –Average client -Body fat between 24% and 31% -Some gym or exercise experience -Average scores on the functional movement screen -Has some confidence in their abilities Level 3 –Highly motivated client -Wanting to get rid of the last few pounds or just a few body fat percentage points -Has a specific event they want to train or look good for -Can pass the functional movement screen with average to excellent scores -Has a lot of confidence and wants to be challenged Most of your clients will begin in Level 1 or Level 2, so let’s write the workouts for the Level 2 client. You can then easily put in regressions for the Level 1 client after you’re done. Your Level 2 client is also the one you want […]

The “Why” of Designing Your Exercise System

The “Why” of Designing Your Exercise System

Hi! This is Nick Osborne with the Personal Training Department Blueprint, GO: Sports Performance Center and GO: Fitness Center in Columbus, Ohio. I’ve been in this business for over 24 years and one thing that has really helped me, as a trainer and business owner, become really successful is having systems for everything. One of the things I became known for early on is having a proven exercise system (not just one or two “go-to” workouts) for all my clients. This system can be modified during the sessions, and is not dependent on variants such as my mood that day, how much sleep I got, or how many clients I’ve already served. With my system, I can say, without a doubt, I have consistently served a top-notch product every time I train. I’m writing this because I want you to have the same confidence I have when it comes to delivering the best fitness experience possible for the client. Let’s face it – a lot of trainers do not prepare their clients workouts before working with them. Many times trainers just “wing it”. Very few of them have 12 to 18 week programs for their clients when they start working […]

Me And Donald Trump

Me And Donald Trump

In April 2008 I visited the Trump Tower in Las Vegas for the very first time. It had opened a few weeks prior. They claimed that the windows are glided with 24-carat gold. It was at the time Las Vegas’s tallest residential building. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I remember going to the bathroom As I was washing my hands I suddenly heard some strange loud noises BAM, POW, BOOM   I thought to myself “did someone get in a fight” I looked over And there he was “The Donald” and three large men in suites “The Donald” was upset and wanted an explanation as to why the paper towel dispenser was empty. So what is this have to do with your fitness business? Well….. Now I don’t condone going around ripping out paper towel dispensers like “The Donald”. You don’t have to go to that extreme. I do however recommend inspecting what you’re expecting. If you let everything go soon you won’t have a business. You certainly won’t have a culture. Your boy Sam, PS – “The Donald” hasn’t yet confirmed coming to “The Weekend With Sam And Friends” event but don’t worry I […]

My First Lesson In America

My First Lesson In America

Hey Super Trainers, Just a quick reminder Weekend With Sam And Friends As you may already know in 1985 my mom and I moved to America. “The land of opportunity” I was eleven years old. It was by far THE best decision of our lives. Before we made the move I remember watching American TV shows like The A Team, Dallas and Dynasty. (Love Mr. T ;) I fantasized about how coming to America meant “guaranteed success”. As you already know I was waaaayyy wrong. No country or person can “guarantee success”. Only thing that a country or a person can guarantee is an “opportunity”. That’s why America is called the “land of opportunity” not the “land of success” My First Lesson In America. At the age of eleven I was already a star “football” player in my old country. As a matter of fact they recruited me to practice with the national team. (I guess if they can take you to war at twelve, eleven for soccer seems reasonable ;) But we got the heck out of there. We moved to America to a little town called “Sharon” Pennsylvania. Sharon is a very small city 45 minutes north of […]

Problem In America (And The Entire World)

Problem In America (And The Entire World)

In 1985 my family and I moved to America from a third world country. “Iran” I was only eleven years old. My mom had to get me out because they (the government) was taking twelve year old kids to war. (I am still not sure what a 12 year old would have done in a war) Iran’s government blamed and to this day blames the “western world” and what they call “The Great Satan” (America) for their shortcomings and failures. What a bunch of crap. Loser mentality for sure. I am forever indebted for my mom for bringing me to the “land of opportunity.” America is by far the greatest country in the WORLD bar none. A country that the first ten amendments to the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights, set forth the priceless rights or freedoms that all Americans may enjoy. A country that rewards hard work and dedication. No wonder America (in less than 500 years) has become the most powerful nation in the WORLD. A country that people take full responsibilities for their actions and can pretty much right their own checks if they wanted to. But soon I realized that even in the greatest country […]
